Our story

A small idea, a stubborn heart, and a whole lot of love.

Bali street dog with soulful eyes

Bali Hound Helpers (BHH) began in 2017 when Lisa Lockyer could no longer walk past a suffering animal without doing something about it. What started with one dog, one vet bill, one neighbour, became a registered Balinese charity.

Today BHH is funded by our family together with the generosity of our patrons. Every rupiah goes straight to where it matters most: sterilising, vaccinating and supporting the low-income families who love their pets but lack the resources to care for them.

We are not a glossy organisation. We are a community — humble, persistent, and proud of every hound we help.

Lisa with a rescued Balinese dog and family

Lisa is the heart of BHH. With a fierce belief that every animal deserves dignity, she has spent nearly a decade building relationships across Balinese villages, vet clinics and patron communities around the world.

Her work is quiet, daily, and largely uncelebrated — and that's exactly how she likes it. This website is our small attempt to change that.
